Travelling by Air

From the airport (external link) by car you would join the M8 junction 28 west bound and leave at junction 15 (approx. 15 minutes drive). There are frequent airport buses (services 500 (external link), 747 (external link) and 905 (external link)) to the city centre.
Prestwick Airport (external link):

By car you would join A77/M77 which meets the M8 at junction 22. Join the M8 east bound and leave at junction 15. There is a half hourly train service between the airport and Glasgow Central station which takes 45 minutes. Note that a rail discount (external link) may be available on production of your ticket or boarding pass depending on which flight you are on.
Travelling by Rail
- East Coast (external link) operate rail services from London Kings Cross (via Newcastle) to Glasgow Central (approx. 5hrs 30mins).
- Virgin (external link) operate West Coast rail services from London Euston and Birmingham (via Carlisle) to Glasgow Central (approx. 5hrs 15mins)
- Cross Country Trains operate services between Scotland and most major English cities.
- First ScotRail (external link) operate sleeper services from London Euston as well as all local services within Scotland. Trains from Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen Street Station are every 15 minutes with a journey time of 50 minutes.

Travelling by Coach

All National Express (external link) and CityLink (external link) services leave from Buchanan Bus Station as do services to most surrounding towns.
Travelling by Car

From England and the south
Travel via the M6 and M74 motorways. Leave the M74 Jct 4 to join the M73 Jct 1. Leave the M73 junction 2 to join the M8 Jct 8 west bound. Exit the M8 at Jct 15 for the University's John Anderson Campus.
From Stirling and the north
Travel via the M9, M80(A80) and M8 motorways. Traffic from Fife should follow signs for the Kincardine Bridge and then join the M876. Exit the M8 Jct 15 for the University's John Anderson Campus.
From Edinburgh and the east
Travel via the M8.
East Lothian and Northumberland traffic on the A1 should take the A720 Edinburgh City By-pass to join the M8.
Tyneside traffic should take the A69 Carlisle Road and join the M6 at Jct 44 northbound thereafer follow the directions from England and the south given above.

Travelling within Glasgow
Underground
Underground services are available every 4-8 minutes depending on the time of day you are travelling. The nearest station for John Anderson Campus is Buchanan Street.
Local Train Services
Train stations are located near both campuses. The nearest station for John Anderson Campus is Glasgow Queen Street.

Parking
It is sometimes possible to obtain parking space in a University car park if prior arrangements are made.
There is a National Car Park (NCP) in Montrose Street where you can obtyain a discounted rate if you take your ticket to the Security Office at the bottom of the Livingstone Tower before leaving.
