Navigating around Basic Mathematics
Introduction
This section is a guide to the new layout and content of the Basic Mathematics package and covers the various methods of navigating around the site.
The Navigation Bar
This is the left-hand column below the University crest. Within it, the five main sections that make up this package are highlighted in bold green text.
Each of these five main headings is a clickable link which opens the first page of each section. When you are inside a section you will see an extended list of all of the available pages in that section. These pages are separted by blue subsection headings.
The Main Content
Each of the individual pages of Basic Mathematics is displayed here, to the right of the navigation bar.
On each of the pages, at both the top and the bottom, there are clickable direction buttons linking the page to its immediate neighbours:
This purple right hand button moves forwards through the package one page at a time, while the green left hand button moves backwards one page at a time.
These buttons enable you to work through a page and move on to the next without having to scroll back to the top.
Alternatively, shortcuts are provided for the main links on the page - hold down the alt key and press the shortcut key to follow the link (Internet Explorer users may also have to press return):
- b - move back to the previous page
- f - move forward to the next page
- s - skip navigation - move focus to start of page content
- i - index page
- 1 - start of section 1 (Laws of Algebra)
- 2 - start of section 2 (Exponential & Logs)
- 3 - start of section 3 (Trigonometry)
- 4 - start of section 4 (Plane Geometry)
