Description
Structure and Bonding: atomic structure, atomic and molecular orbitals, simple ideas of bonding. Analytical Chemistry: volumetric analysis - acid/base, complexometric and redox titrations. pH calculations. Inorganic Chemistry: periodic table and main group elements.
Organic Chemistry: introduction, electronic theory of organic chemistry, principal reaction types, basic stereochemistry. Molecular interpretation of the physical properties of gases, liquids and solutions: the perfect gas equation, determination of molecular mass, vapour pressure, colligative properties, phase equilibria. Energetics of molecules: kinetic theory of gases, translation kinetic energy, energetics of molecular rotation and vibration, First law of thermodynamics, enthalpy, Hess's law.
